Extract: "English is likely to become of increasing importance as one of the key operatic languages" (White, A History of English Opera 437). Most important to this recognition of twentieth-century British opera is the perception of Britian as the site of one, if not two, concerted renaussances of opera in the twenthieth century.

Creative Comment: It is very beautiful to tell a story in music and performance. I think it is great to tell the story in the vernacular of the people. The emotions are better to understand this way.
