Extract:  Drawing on information from J.S. Bach's sons, Forkel wrote in 1802:

The meeting place was usually in Erfurt, Eisenach or Arnstadt. They devoted their time together wholly to making music. Since the company consisted entirely of Kantors, organists and town musicians, all of whom had to do with the church, and in any case it was then still the custom to begin everything on a religious note, the first thing they did on being gathered together was to strike up a chorale. 

Creative Comment: Already in the time of Bach, it was important to make music together. Making music together is very powerfull, also for the connection between people.

  1. I think you're right about the connection part. People should connect through music. Music is an universal language.
